Comcast Cares Day | April 22, 2017

Local Comcast NBCUniversal employees and their families are making a big difference for Northwest Youth Services for Comcast Cares Day! On Saturday, April 22nd, volunteers will be helping to get the new We Grow Garden site ready for the 2017 season.

Volunteers will be building raised beds, fences, compost bins, picnic tables and benches, and making/painting garden signs and a market stand where youth can sell the fruit, veggies, and flowers they grow.

Comcast Cares Day is a celebration of Comcast’s year-round commitment to volunteerism, and a tradition that has grown into the largest single-day corporate volunteer event in the country. In 2016, nearly 108,000 volunteers participated in Comcast Cares Day, improving more than 930 project sites throughout 540 local communities across the country.

WHY: The We Grow Garden is part of Northwest Youth Services’ Vocational Readiness Program. The Garden is a hands-on opportunity for youth to learn job skills, build relationships, and grow and learn about healthy food. We Grow is moving because the new 22 North housing development is going to be built at its current location on North State Street.
