Volunteer – PAD Culinary Coach

Purpose
Promote positive adolescent development at the PAD. Create opportunities for youth, ages 13-17, to make positive choices by encouraging community cooking.

Time
Flexible

Commitment
2+ hours per week, 3 months minimum

Responsibilities
• Collaborate with youth to prepare community meals
• Teach youth cooking techniques
• Introduce youth to basic nutrition
• Encourage healthy food choices
• Clean-up workspace
• Be a positive role model
• Encourage participation
• Maintain a safe environment
• Protect the privacy of the youth
• Respond to program emergencies appropriately
• Utilize appropriate behavioral interventions if necessary
• Communicate clearly with PAD Staff Supervisor and staff

Qualifications
Must be at least 21-years of age
Must have a Food Handler’s Permit
Must pass background check
Must test negative on a TB test
Must have or acquire CPR, First Aid, HIV / AIDS training
Sensitivity and responsive to diversity
Experience working with youth, preferred but not required
