Volunteers play a key role at helping us achieve our mission at Northwest Youth Services. Please check out our current opportunities below or feel free to email if you have an idea you'd love to share! Additionally, you can show support by Donating a Meal or making a fleece blanket (instructions below!).

We have made the difficult decision to temporarily close our volunteer programs through the end of November due to the recent uptick in COVID cases. We are doing everything we can to keep our volunteers, youth and staff safe during these unprecedented times. Please feel free to reach out to with any questions about our reopening.

Current opportunities:

  • In-Kind Delivery Driver Volunteer  (on hold)

    • Help support our youth by delivering needed donation items to our programs around Bellingham. This position seeks an independent individual with reliable transportation who would love some additional time to listen to podcasts while helping their community.

  • In-Kind Inventory Volunteer (currently full)

    • Do you love organizing spaces? This position seeks an individual who can organize and beautify our donation space and input items into our online inventory management system. Items here are ever in-flux as they are delivered to programs and new items come in.

  • Donation Drive Volunteer

    • Are you interested in making an impact in your community? Email to find out how to organize and implement a community donation drive, as well as what items are critically needed to assist our youth. Hosting a drive is one of the best ways to raise awareness in our community about youth homelessness – and it is fun too!

  • Life Skills Volunteer {Limited Spots - Fall 2021}

    • Become a life skills volunteer at The Ground Floor! No matter what your passion or hobby, sharing it with youth could change their lives for the better. Share your hobby weekly or bimonthly! See additional details in the link above. Note: Ground Floor is open from 9am-4pm Monday-Friday.

  • Make Birthday Cards - Remote Opportunity!

    • Help us show how important our clients are to our community by helping design and create birthday cards! Celebration is important – and with the help of a fabulous volunteer birthday brigade team, many of our clients get a personalized birthday cake on their special day. We’d love to pair these with hand-decorated birthday cards from our community.

  • Make Fleece BlanketsRemote Opportunity!

    • Looking for a creative and fun way to show a youth support and love? Try making a fleece no-sew blanket! Blankets are always an in-demand item. This is an easy and great at-home project to volunteer your time at any age. We recommend these simple instructions from No Sew Fleece Blanket - DIY Fleece Throw but there are several YouTube and online instructions out there as well.

  • Volunteer Artist - Remote Opportunity!

    • Virtual opportunity! Are you creative and love art? We are looking for someone to help make our signs more beautiful in our youth and office spaces. There are no limits to the creativity you can express in this position with style or mediums.

If you are interested in any opportunity above, please fill out our volunteer application form
