Youth Action Board (YAB)
The Youth Action Board ensures that the people we serve have a voice in the way we serve them.
Many people we work with feel inspired to help.
They join the YAB.
The YAB is a group of teens and young adults who advise our staff on how to design and deliver support so it’s as thoughtful, inclusive, and effective as possible.

Sharing their stories
The lived experience of YAB members is a form of expertise we can’t do without. They know firsthand what works, what hurts, and what makes someone feel seen.
Making us better
We host regular meetings with the YAB to get their feedback and brainstorm solutions, including how to address the specific challenges faced by BIPOC and LGBTQ+ youth.
Changing the narrative
By sharing their stories and ideas, the YAB teaches the wider community to understand and engage young people on their terms.
Why did you join YAB?
Two members share what NWYS has meant for them
"Northwest Youth Services helped me with my goals by letting me stay at the PAD, and get my GED, and seek proper housing. I've had help with my resume and getting jobs, and it's really just helped me turn my life around."
"NWYS has helped me fine-tune my leadership skills and learn to be confident in my ideas and opinions. It gives youth a place where their voices can be heard, and a chance to voice our needs and receive help."
